what now{13}
a new and remarkable thing has come over me. it’s a realisation in that i had narrowed my focus as to just what tbaoo is really all about. while basking in great friendship, which i hope doesn’t need to end, i engaged ( heavily ) within a “closed secret invite only” group of blogging types and found myself limiting myself to the processes and in some ways, style of that group. in fact i had left another slightly larger facebook group because of the southern baptist, recently discovered, evangelical tub thumping preaching that became more and more pervasive. so i retreated to this closed invite only offshoot group and seemed ( until today ) to remain there exclusively.
it doesn’t mean that it was a bad thing, but it became clear that the wide reaching targets i had originally sought and set myself and passed me by. my failure to reach such a wider audience had transformed tbaoo into participating in a very small pond of wonderfully self congratulatory, super supportive, talented, nice and very active blogging types.
as much as i could, i left a seasonal message and without any fuss quietly left the group. i decided to do this so i can extradite myself from this narrow focus and has the cliche states – spread my wings. i will imagine some may take offense, but hey, it’s not meant to be offensive in any way and shouldn’t be taken so. i really appreciate their support, but i need more support if you get my drift.
i will now try over my holiday break, to reinvent what tbaoo was to be. you might have read this post where i ranted rather tersely about just how disillusioned i had become, with various shit and what tbaoo had become.
well today marks a new beginning, it’s doesn’t mean that i’m getting all maudlin, it just means that i going to get mean, petty, angry, funny, silly, fair and all the while trying to look my best. i’d suggest that you do the same dear reader, look and sound as good as you can.
all the very best for the holidays, ( that’s for the americans ) have a great xmas ( for the atheists ), have a great christmas ( for those who believe in the fairy tale ) and to the rest of you dear reader .. have a great time.

Again, I can relate in general. It is comforting and validating to be in a supportive group but limiting yourself to just that is definitely a trap. You can spread your wings and still visit? I like the new and improved tbaoo! ;p

Blogging is so damn circular, isn’t it? We follow the blogs written by the bloggers who follow ours and it’s all, as you say, “super supportive” but also very “self congratulatory”. If you can figure out how to reach that wider audience (without having to closely follow & comment on a 1,000 different blogs) let me know because I’m still trying to figure it out.

the very interesting thing i’ve noticed is that directories, stumble upon and others show more reads etc per post when i do something more substantial – i.e. less is not more in the case of tbaoo

For a moment there, I was checking members…whew! It wasn’t our group. But really? It shouldn’t make a difference whether or not you belong to any group in particular. If someone likes what you write and enjoys spending time on your blog, they do it because you have content that person enjoys reading, not because you belong to this group or that group.
I have several blogs that I go to even though they are not in the same groups as I am. That is what I utilize Google follow and Networked blogs for. I can still see what posts, and if for some reason I miss it? Well, I have my page of badges that I can easily click on at any time to visit my favorite blogs and get caught up
There are so many avenues available out there for ‘spreading your wings’. You have to find what works best for you. That may not be the same for me due to differences in content. Everyone has to do what works for their blog
As far as content? Well, let me tell you that you have a very unique and interesting style of writing, no matter what your content is. Don’t change that. It keeps me on my toes

thank you very much mary .. i’ve always really appreciated your support. i think my leaving the group is because of my weird trait of focusing too tightly on one thing, sometimes causing me to ignore other avenues. my doggedness and in some cases laziness and wishing to participate ( too keenly ), is the reason for cutting the membership ties .. but i stress not the relationships built through the group, just my addiction to the goings on within.
i’m going to try posting less often and will aim to have more to say – if that makes sense. please keep an eye out, or indeed subscribe, so you don’t miss a thing
