do not do this at home – extreme vegetable delivery{5}

People try to come up with interesting and exciting ways to propel vegetables (who knows why) and here are a few videos on some of the craziest delivery systems out there.

Even though some of these things might seem very cool, the people behind them usually have several years of experience building similar machines. That is why you should always take precautions if you decide to embark on your own quest to make the ultimate food firing system (which, honestly, you shouldn’t). But things like this are meant to be fun so let’s skip the moral lecture and head over to the awesome videos that lie ahead. From potato cannons to pumpkin trebuchets, here is a great rundown of Extreme Vegetable Cannons.

Pumpkin Cannon

Over at Harvest Moon Farms in the United States they took the extreme vegetable delivery system to a whole new level with their amazing pumpkin cannon. This massive beast managed to shoot a single pumpkin 2000 feet away, far beyond what we are normally used to with these types of cannons. The massive tank creates a huge amount of pressure and when the valve is released you can see the immense speed that the pumpkin leaves the barrel at. I’m sure this cannon can be used for a lot other things, other than pumpkins. It would be good  to see what it could with a bowling ball.

Tomato Gun

This might be the perfect way to make tomato purée, put a tomato in a gun with 85 psi and fire against a wall. Even though it won’t really reach its target as a whole tomato, you will be sure that there will be a nice infusion of colour wherever it lands. Try fitting it with an egg or something similar to get an even more interesting result.

Potato Gatling Gun

Some people just make standard potato guns, in fact  you can find an endless amount of videos about different guns online. But this American family decided to take it all a little further and create a Potato Gatling Gun. With 5 different pipes rotating and shooting potatoes it turns into one of the most spectacular and amazing food delivery systems out there. Go right to the end of the video to see the gun in action, and to find out how to make your own just watch through all of it.

Pumpkin Trebuchet

There are people out there always trying to outdo one another but the people who created this massive trebuchet for the sole purpose of firing Pumpkins won’t be beaten for a very long time. The trebuchet itself is very well built and they have some farm machinery to load it as the firing arm is well over 10 meters. As the pumpkin leaves its sling you can see it shoot up in the air until it turns in to a very small dot. Even though a lot of cannons can get quite some distance, few, if any, can get it this high and this far at the same time!

This dangerous video roundup was written for tbaoo on behalf of Ladbrokes in the UK ….. it’s not the sort of thing you should ever try at home.

note. as you might realise dear reader, although this guest post is not the standard fare for tbaoo, i’ve decided to give it a run and see how it works. sadly the pumpkin video is not available to view in australia, but it should work for you if you’re somewhere else … cheers
