media

over many years of watching, listening, reading and being subjected to utter drivel – i’ve decided to document my wild opinions on the exciting world of the media. i worked in radio and television a way back – so i’ve a bit of an idea of some of it. in fact some say i’m an expert in bullshit.

loads of pretenders

loads of pretenders {8}

ok dear reader, i’ve left the local political scene alone for some time, in fact the antics of the real mayor and my fictional one “con flarke” are fading into a boring abyss. the locals are getting ance about many factors fanned by the media, which is dominated by mr ( no more news of the world ) murdoch and the local training ground outlet, channel 9 television news. the radio stations are just outposts of the national cock rock radio here in australia and are pretty worthless.

the local television news is just ridiculous, they should and did, retire newsreader rob readings, who can’t read, can’t speak and almost sings along in a slow and mumbling style that drives me completely nuts. my bride laughs at me going on about this aged buffoon struggling with the wrtitten word in front of him. now tele-prompoters are notourious for stuffing up, but he is just masterful at the absurd without their help.

any-who, even the young news readers drive me crazy, kelly dahlberg ( check this link ) is just so brutally hopeless she should be disqualified from any further games on air. someone in this illustrious organisation, ( i used to work for them in sydney at tcn 9 ) has shown them what to do with their hands, even to the point of pointing at the topic during their piece to camera, opening arms to make a point is the slightest of these new moves.

so what am i banging on about .. well two things, they posted the clip you see below, you may dear reader realise i like bill bailey – well here he is with his car horns. the second is the race for mayor on the gold coast, some call it a race, but it really should be defined as a boring marathon, the election is not on until march, but we have candidates announcing their running, some declining after announcing, some keeping their cards close to their chest, even though they’re waving their arms on the mumbling news every bloody night and many having the sense not to announce until it’s required and the race is really on.

i have signed up to twitter accounts, facebook and set sites in my favourites section, so i can be entertained as soon as the material is available. in fact dear reader, i’m the very first follower on one particular twitter account .. that’s right – their blog states “follow me” on twitter, so i did and then i find that no-one else had done so.

so, i’m the first, welcome susie, if you’ve checked with some understandable excitement as to just who or what a tbaoo is - good luck in march.

ok dear reader, it’s a slow day in the news, at least there’s too much for me, so it makes it very hard to choose .. i’ll just resort to a combo of gold coast luxury living, cute kids and real estate.

Coast family create viral video to sell home
Jessica Huxley   |  June 24th, 2011

ONE Gold Coast family has turned their kids into YouTube sensations in a bid to sell a house the real estate agents couldn’t shift.

Since Joanne Tyler-Jenkins uploaded the clip of her 18-month-old son Tyler and 8-year-old Josh advertising their Sorrento family home, the video has gone viral, clocking up more than 22,000 hits in just one week.

She says the children loved the opportunity to jump in front of the camera and advertise their house, and interest in the property has increased tenfold since the clip was uploaded.  http://www.luxuryhome.net.au/

the over adjective ladened hacks at the local paper have decided that 22 odd thousand views is viral ?  it is a heap, but far from the exaggerated impact suggested. oh well the headlines can’t be true all the time, a bit like those found at tbaoo. btw, i’ve heard that a definition for cute = ugly but interesting. good night and good buying.
