so dear reader it’s bucketing down again, here at the land of tbaoo. so it’s television time, well actually it’s television time all the time. this time i’ve caught another brilliant episode of that mitchell and webb look .. a must for serious clever, funny, cutting comedy. the sketch that drove me to the keyboard is locked, so i can’t yet find a copy that i can embed, but here is the link, it’s the reality television fishmonger sketch at the end of the video. ( btw .. does anyone have debbie’s phone number ? ) the world of reality tv is so unreality and completely stupid, it amazes me that so many people watch the crap.

so in order to justify my grander than though thoughts on life, reality and science and television, i bring you a collection of material designed to enlighten, entertain, criticise and offend .. you must chose which reaction you bring to the subject. even my exulted hero richard dawkins is made fun of, enjoy.

tbaoo is using the fox news promotional line .. fair and balanced you decide, well that’s a lie, in a complete reversal of that scripted piece of fantasy, i’m actually going to offer two points of view. regarding the first video .. hint to ben, as he calls it – darwinism .. is not the theory for gravity, it’s a theory offering an explanation for the diversity of all animals and plants on this planet. ben stein and glen beck actually say we’re closed minded ..truck, what a truck’n load of truck’n crap. I’m not sure who “they” ( or we ) really are, but i’d be pleased to be one of they rather than one of them.  second video, is clear, precise, accurate .. fair and balanced you bet .. i’ve decided.

tbaoo needs sensible discourse {4}

ok, i sit here ( a lot ), walk by here, stumble about here .. reading, watching, listening and in general, being subjected to the most amazing news. i don’t mean the broadcasts are amazing, it’s the sheer lunacy of the participants. i present the links to some examples and if you wish, have a look ..

by way of balance here’s mike bloomberg – the mayor of new york on the daily show, ok it’s from my side of the fence, but it’s remarkably sensible and balanced … also – here are two videos for you. ( the richard dawkins one may require you to lift your volume level )

i attempt to remain hopeful that the world won’t fall into an even larger pit of hatred, bigotry, stupidity and complete chaos .. although i think it’s too late, it’s happening already. maybe the religious order believing in space ships coming to take their believers away, had the right idea.

a circle is a lazy square ? {2}

it is absolutely amazing how things work .. talk about six degrees of separation indeed, i don’t know how many this tangled web saga goes through.

i’ll put these things into bullet points so i ( and you ) can make head – not tail out of it.

  • i posted the whale poop story
  • while knowing a dark secret that can’t be shared – it’s not men’s business either, but could smell just as bad !!
  • i laugh with co workers about a scene from a favourite film of mine, ( they of course know nothing of this !! )
  • from a book from one of my favourite authors, douglas adams ( they of course know nothing of this !! )
  • then i log into a forum tonight, and who is posted in a topic about sex ( it’s not that sort of forum ) slartibartfast
  • i’m listening to the new gorillaz album plastic beach on my computer ( in house gag gets better here )
  • while my favourite author was a champion for the mountain gorillas, the black rhino and the apple mac
  • i have just gone over to the imac and i’m now a convert
  • the whale connection is within a scene of the favourite film the hitchhiker’s guide to the galaxy
  • stehen fry ( another mad apple fan ) is the announcer and voice of the guide, in this tremendous film and trailer below – although it’s sounds like it’s my silly “mr super announcer” comedy character routine has ridden to the rescue and is reading the title – have a listen and you’ll see what i mean
  • one of the best friends of one of my favourites authors, happens to be another of my other favourite authors richard dawkins ( see red “a” below & right )

so what does all this mean – well bugger all really, except that i must live a very connected life of music, film and sheer joy of admiring earth’s most clever, funny and unforgettable inhabitants and can’t recommend enough the works of douglas adams ( read everything he has done it’s bloody brilliant ) richard dawkins ( same )and whenever you can – watch stephen fry – absolute power is highly recommended. that’s all good, bye-bye, nighty-night and let’s hope that any flying animals who are near to you, are kind and do not land or drop upon you.
